SUPPLIES NEEDED

Attendees will need to come prepared for hands-on learning and sharing. The following are items that you need to bring.

  • A tin of quality black polish (Not Parade Gloss)

  • A horsehair shoebrush

  • Soap of choice (quality saddle soap or glycerin soap)

  • Small container for lathering soap. (rounded shape works best)

  • A soft dauber brush not previously used for polish OR a soft facial cleansing brush

  • Clean, soft cotton rags. Do not use fabric softener on these. (Old cotton t-shirts, cut-up, work well). Lots of these!

  • A few old toothbrushes (or new ones)

  • Spray bottle (small or large, your choice)

  • Old towels. Three or four recommended. Check your local thrift store.

  • Any conditioners, color polishes and other products and tools you already have. (We’ll be discussing many products)

  • One pair black leather boots or shoes. Preferably a pair that will take a high shine.

  • Other boots or shoes that you might wish to work on. (Bring a pair of lace up boots and laces if you want to participate in the lacing class)

  • A leather garment that you want to work on

  • A leather toy that you want to work on.

 

OPTIONAL ITEMS - Nice To Have

  • Lighter

  • Small scissors

  • Hand saniztier/cleaner

  • Pieces of panty hose

  • Suede Brush, Suede Stone, Suede Cleaner

  • Leather Dye with dauber (Fiebings Pro Dye recommended)

  • Black cream polish (Meltonian or Tarango recommended)

  • Colored wax polishes and/or colored cream polishes to match any shoes or boots you have

  • Separate horsehair brush for dark colors besides black

  • Separate horsehair brush for light colors

 

We will have acetone, deglazer, and isopropyl alcohol available for your use. You can leave your own supply at home for safety.

 

Please DO NOT bring items that are mildewed or molded. While we will discuss how to deal with mold and mildew we do not want spores to spread at the event.
